"The first vintage of the cuvee and also brilliant, with a similar level of richness, yet additional focus and purity, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Anonyme (50% Roussanne, 40% Grenache Blanc and 10% Clairette all aged two-thirds in barrel and one-third in stainless steel) is pure class. Rich white peach, toasted almonds, white currants and citrus all emerge from the glass, and it shows a similar saline-like minerality on the palate. A big wine, it stays beautiful fresh and lively. Xavier Vignon heeft er een handje van om te vernieuwen en dit keer doet hij dat door een oude traditie nieuw leven in te blazen. De bijna vergeten witte Châteauneuf-du-Pape, gemaakt volgens de regels van de moderne wijnbouw. En hiervoor werden uitsluitend autochtone druivensoorten gebruikt. Er werd, geheel volgens traditie, geen nieuw hout gebruikt. Alles heel traditioneel, maar dan met state of the art know-how wat betreft de wijnbereiding.
En dat levert een schitterende witte wijn op die niet onopgemerkt kan blijven. De kleur is strogeel met groene reflexen. het onverwacht delicate bouquet toont witte perzik, geroosterde amandelen, bloemenweide, citrusfruit en minerale noten. Veelzijdig en serieus, maar tegelijkertijd hedonistisch en verleidelijk. In de mond vol en elegant, met aan de ene kant veel frisheid, en aan de andere kant een compacte structuur. De ongewoonlijk lange afdronk is cremig.

Hij weet van aanpakken! De begaafde oenoloog Xavier Vignon reisde lange tijd de wereld over. Hij adviseerde meer dan 200 bedrijven, verspreid over de hele wereld, en pendelde daardoor voortdurend van het noordelijk naar het zuidelijk halfrond. Hij kent de wijnwereld op zijn duim, maar koos er uiteindelijk voor zich te vestigen in de zuidelijke Rhône.
De wijn
Xavier Vignon 'Cuvée Anonyme' Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2012 is een cuvée van 50% roussanne, 40% grenache blanc en 10% clairette. Na de handmatige oogst werden de druiven zorgvuldig gesorteerd en gefermenteerd. Een derde van de wijn rijpte in tanks van RVS, tweederde in houten vaten.
