Proefnotitie
Goudgeel, glinsterend en kristalhelder vloeit de wijn het glas. Al bij het inschenken komt de volledige complexiteit en gelaagdheid van de wijn tot uitdrukking: een rijkdom aan geel fruit, vooral mirabelpruimen, kweepeerschillen en abrikozen, wat gemalen steen en krijt, een vleugje tabak en een subtiele rokerige toets. De riesling openbaart steeds weer nieuwe nuances, wat de klasse van deze wijn onderstreept. Ondanks alle weelde is hij in de mond slank en kristalzuiver. Het zuurtje is vlijmscherp en verbindt zich toch moeiteloos met de sappigheid van de Palts. De afdronk is fantastisch lang – deze wijn heeft nog een mooie toekomst voor zich.

Staggering concentration on the mouth-filling, but finely-nuanced palate. The fruit tastes as if the orange has somehow crawled inside the apricot or vice versa. Super-silky mouthfeel, the fully ripe fruit beautifully underlined by the flinty minerality, the two elements so beautifully intertwined it takes your breath away. From biodynamically grown grapes. Wild-fermented in large neutral oak. Vegan.

The 2022 Hohenmorgen G.C. is from a warm, fully south-facing site in Deidesheim, just behind the von Winning estate. The wine combines red sandstone, saline and aromatic Riesling aromas with spicy, flinty and peppery notes of crushed stones and well-matured fruits. Lush but precise and savory on the palate, this is a tight, intense, firmly structured and still slightly astringent Riesling with remarkable elegance and purity but also power and length. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in November 2023.

The 2022 Riesling Deidensheimer Hohenmorgen G.C. is from a higher plateau, facing south-southeast, one of the warmest sites of the portfolio. The nose has a touch of red apple and Navel orange. The palate is vividly juicy and exuberant but with immense depth. This shimmers and moves. It has its own dynamic as if it tried to accommodate the sunshine and energy somewhere in its sleek body. Lovely, still finding its sense of self but with lovely energy.

Gegrilde vis en zeevruchten – begeleidt ook uitstekend de verfijnde Aziatische keuken en zoetzure gerechten.
De wijn
Bürklin-Wolf bezit minder dan één hectare in Hohenmorgen, dat in een wat warmer gedeelte ligt op een smalle kalksteenrif langs de uitlopers van de Mittelhaardt. De verweerde bodem van rode zandsteen met kalkafzettingen geeft de wijn zowel volheid als rijpingspotentieel. De handmatige pluk, spontane gisting en rijping op de fijne droesem in Doppelstück-vaten zorgen voor extra complexiteit en dichtheid.
