Proefnotitie
De ‘Pian delle Vigne’ 2021 geurt naar rijpe kersen, frambozen, bramen en viooltjes, aangevuld met bloedsinaasappel, gedroogde kruiden, tabak en zoete specerijen. In de mond is deze brunello zijdezacht, sappig en levendig. Het rijpe fruit wordt gedragen door precieze zuren en fijnkorrelige, soepele tannines. Een koele, bijna staalachtige mineraliteit zorgt voor extra spanning, terwijl een vleugje bittere sinaasappel en florale tonen de lange afdronk verfraaien. Een elegante, harmonieuze sangiovese met een prachtige frisheid.

The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino wafts up with a pretty blend of citrus-tinged blackberries, violets and sweet spice. Textures of pure silk and cooling acidity beautifully complement racy red and black fruits. I love the momentum and purity here. It leaves a steely mineral concentration to mingle with fine tannins and inner rose tones. Year after year, Pian delle Vigne continues to improve through its graceful lift.

De wijn
Tenuta Pian delle Vigne ligt zes kilometer ten zuidwesten van Montalcino en beslaat 184 hectare, waarvan 65 hectare wijngaarden. De sangiovesedruiven werden ontsteeld, licht gekneusd en bij een gecontroleerde temperatuur van 28 °C vergist in roestvrijstalen tanks. Na de malolactische gisting rijpte de wijn twee jaar in grote eikenhouten vaten van 30 tot 80 hectoliter. Daarna volgde verdere rijping op fles.
