Proefnotitie
Deze wijn steekt met kop en schouders boven alle amarone-wijnen uit. Hij is meer dan een begeleider bij een diner, hij is een feest op zich. De ‘Monte Lodoletta’ uit 2016 is ongelooflijk geconcentreerd en complex. Bijna ondoorzichtig zwart van kleur, met een zoet en donker bouquet met tonen van zwarte kersen, kersenlikeur, pruimencompote, anijs, kaneel, venkel, kruidnagel, crème de cassis, tabak, rozenblaadjes en grafiet. In de mond komt dan de volle kracht van deze rijpe, rijke en tegelijkertijd grandioos uitgebalanceerde wijn naar voren: diep en weelderig fruit, ongelooflijk zijdezacht en fijn van textuur – een grootheid die overtuigt.

Inky in the glass with almost no rim. Aromas of cloves, coconut, graphite, dark lush bramble fruit, plums and cherries. Full-bodied with great concentration of fruit and a super-dense and velvety palate. Extremely rich, but balanced by crisp acidity and thick yet dynamic and chewy tannins. Amazing finish of salted chocolate. A superpower Amarone with grace. Try from 2026. Will age for decades.

The 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Monte Lodoletta keeps me at the edge of the glass to take in its darkly alluring bouquet of dusty black currants and dried flowers, with hints of blood orange offset by sweet rose. While currently youthful and understated, it continues to open and deepen with each swirl. This is silky and cool-toned in feel, savory to the core, with a dense wave of mineral-tinged dark red fruits carried across a core of vibrant acidity. Autumnal spices form toward the close. De wijn
De druiven voor deze koninklijke amarone komen uit de Val d'Illasi, de meest oostelijke vallei van Verona. Hier komen alluviale bodems voor met een hoog kleigehalte. De wijn bestaat uit corvina veronese (ca. 60%), rondinella (ca. 20%), oseleta (ca. 10%) en croatina (ca. 10%). Voor één fles wijn wordt het fruit van maar liefst negen wijnstokken gebruikt. De druiven worden gedroogd, vervolgens vergist en gerijpt in barriques.
