Proefnotitie
Deze diepdonkerrode bordeaux onthult een uitnodigend bouquet van braam, framboos, pruim en kers, aangevuld met specerijen, vanille en cederhout. In de mond is hij krachtig en sappig, met veel lengte. Hij overtuigt met tonen van rijp donker fruit, geroosterde noten, mediterrane kruiden en verfijnde specerijen, soepele tannines, harmonieuze zuren en koele minerale toetsen. De afdronk is vol en elegant.
Lekker bij: de grote drie, te weten pizza, burgers en steak.

Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 Rol Valentin has a drop-dead gorgeous perfume of violets, dark chocolate and star anise over a core of wild blueberries, black cherries and preserved plums, plus a hint of Sichuan pepper. The medium to full-bodied palate is seductively fragrant, coating the mouth with energetic black and blue fruits and a velvety texture, finishing with fantastic length and purity.

The 2020 Rol Valentin is gorgeous. Strong Cabernet Franc accents lend tons of aromatic presence to play off a core of rich, heady dark-fleshed fruit. Black cherry, plum, mocha, espresso and grilled herbs all build effortlessly as the 2020 opens in the glass. The new oak is a bit strong, but otherwise, the balance here is very fine.

De grote drie: pizza, hamburger, steak. Doet het ook goed bij streetfoodfavorieten zoals pulled pork.
De wijn
Deze bordeaux bestaat uit 85% merlot, 10% cabernet franc en 5% malbec. De ongeveer 40 jaar oude wijnstokken groeien voornamelijk op leem-kalkbodems in de wijngaarden van Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse. De druiven worden selectief met de hand geoogst en bij een gecontroleerde temperatuur op de schillen vergist in roestvrijstalen tanks. Daarna rijpt de wijn 12 tot 16 maanden op de fijne droesem in barriques van Frans eikenhout, grotendeels in nieuwe vaten.
