Proefnotitie
De diepe, donkerrode kleur heeft ook zwarte reflecties en de uitnodigende geur doet denken aan kersen, bessen en bloesem, aan kruiden, specerijen en tabak. In de mond is de barbaresco krachtig en meeslepend. Hij toont rijp donker fruit, kruiden, tabak en florale toetsen, harmonieuze tannines, levendige zuren, minerale accenten en een sappige, ronde afdronk.

Bright and overtly fruity, this is full of intoxicating violets, cinnamon, blood oranges and black cherries, expressing mint and balsamic depth. Full-bodied with a soft, smooth attack, dusty yet velvety tannins and brilliant acidity. The chocolaty finish shows licorice and a mouth-coating texture. Delicious and balanced. Drink or hold.

Vinous
The 2022 Barbaresco is a pretty rich, heady wine. Dark cherry/plum fruit, cloves, licorice and mocha build as the 2022 shows off its considerable depth. This is one of the few 2022s that is quite resonant texturally. The aromatics could be more lifted and the tannins could use a bit more polish, but those qualities were next to impossible to come by in 2022. The inclusion of some juice from Riserva lots is a great help. All things considered, this is a stellar showing.

De grote drie: pizza, hamburger, steak. Doet het ook goed bij streetfoodfavorieten zoals pulled pork.
De wijn
De Produttori del Barbaresco wordt geleid door Aldo Vacca, die eerder 15 jaar lang samenwerkte met de legendarische wijnmaker Angelo Gaja. De nebbiolo-druiven voor deze wijn zijn afkomstig van verschillende cru-wijngaarden. Na de selectieve oogst worden ze volledig ontsteeld en vergist in roestvrijstalen tanks. Vervolgens rijpt de wijn ongeveer twee jaar in grote Franse houten vaten van 2.500 tot 75.000 liter.
