This is such a classic mountain wine with all the freshness that implies, also the delicate yet expressive aromas that I associate with this unofficial category. Super citrusy juiciness and freshness on the very focused medium-bodied palate. Then the purity of a mountain stream in the super-clean and brilliant finish.

The 2023 Altenbamberg Rotenberg GG is very clear and dense on the spicy, piquant nose, which reveals citric as well as iodine notes. Playful and elegant on the palate, this is dense and even somewhat creamy, with burnt, slightly lactic notes on the piquant, rather powerful finish. It's not very animating, at least not at this stage. Tasted at the Vorpremiere VDP.Grosses Gewächs in Wiesbaden in August 2024.

De klassieker: quiche lorraine! Combineert ook goed met stevige gerechten zoals eend, aromatische zachte kaas of licht pikante curry’s.
