Proefnotitie
De 2022 ‘Bronzelack’ biedt heerlijk intens, weelderig en tegelijkertijd precies, elegant en verfijnd rieslingplezier. In de neus is er een mooi samenspel tussen tropische tonen, steen- en pitfruit, citrusvruchten en bloemen. Vooral donkere bessen, mandarijnen, perziken en papaja springen eruit. In de mond vormen een fantastisch levendige mineraliteit en een zuivere wijnzuurstructuur de tegenhanger van het rijpe en rijke fruit. De droge, verfijnde en frisse riesling mondt uiteindelijk uit in een lange, ziltige en elegante afdronk.

This super-elegant 2022 dry riesling has an expressive peachy nose with delicate orange, nutmeg and chamomile nuances. Then you take a sip and a huge wave of wet stone minerality pours over you, although the wine is sleek and racy. Extremely long and precise wet stone finish that takes your breath away. Longer on the lees in cask than previous vintages with bottling in May. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

From the cooler western part of the Johannisberg, the 2022 Schloss Johannisberg Bronzelack Riesling Trocken is the "coolish-climate wine" from this prestigious domaine and represents the Taunus quartzite soil. Vinified 30% in traditional oak and bottled in May 2023, the wine opens with an elegant and precise flinty-scented bouquet with delicate sur lie aromas. Thanks to shadowed grapes in the afternoons, this dry Riesling is also a sharp and linear on the palate, with texture, good intensity and precise and vibrantly fresh acidity (eight grams per liter of total acidity). This is a classical, real coolish style of the 2022 vintage. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in September 2023.

The 2022 Riesling Schloss Johannisberg Bronzelack was harvested from dedicated parcels selected for coolness in the west of the vineyard to harvest the most delicate Riesling possible. This works here because the vineyard is cooler and retains its night coolness longer. Forty percent of the wine was fermented in Stück , the rest in stainless steel. Pear peel and Amalfi lemon zest with a vestige of mango make out the nose. While light-footed, a distinct backbone is outlined by ripe lemon freshness. There is nothing loud about this wine. The Riesling's exuberance is toned down into a linear, balanced, unshowy wine. The 2022 is serene and understated but rather convincing with its straight line of balance and lasting freshness.

Schloss Johannisberg
Schloss Johannisberg is hét centrum van de Duitse wijncultuur. Hier, midden in de Rheingau-regio, werd de Spätlese uitgevonden en de eerste Riesling verbouwd. De potentie van de unieke locatie van Schloss Johannisberg werd al snel onderkend en grote namen zoals dichter Heinrich Heine raakten verknocht aan de wijnen.
De wijn
De Schloss Johannisberg Riesling ‘Bronzelack’ 2022 komt van de monopole-wijngaard van Schloss Johannisberg rond het kasteel en het wijnhuis. Voor de wijnen van het kasteel wordt gebruik gemaakt van de unieke rieslingkloon 110 11-Gm. In combinatie met de kwartsietbodem uit het Taunusmassief, die hier zeer zuiver is, en de lange gisting en rijping in foeders van Taunus-eik resulteert dat in een karakteristieke riesling.
