Proefnotitie
De dieprobijnrode brunello di montalcino onthult complexe aroma’s van rijpe zoete kersen, donkere bosbessen en kersenpitten, begeleid door fijne tonen van cederhout, tabak, warme bosgrond en edele specerijen. In de mond presenteert de wijn zich krachtig en tegelijk elegant, met sappig kersenfruit, precieze zuren en een romige, harmonieuze textuur. De gepolijste tannines geven structuur en diepte en de lange finale geeft nog minerale en kruidige nuances prijs. De wijn is nu al toegankelijk, maar tegelijk uitgerust met groot rijpingspotentieel.
Lekker bij: bistecca alla fiorentina, gestoofde wildragout of gerijpte Pecorino Toscano.

Supporting good concentration and volume, the Castello Banfi 2021 Brunello di Montalcino checks all the boxes for the vintage, reflecting careful blending and cellar precision in a warm year. There is richness and freshness, with layers of plum, blackcurrant and sweet spice. The tannins are well managed. The wine delivers exactly what is expected without pushing beyond its stylistic boundaries. This is a fine choice for near- to mid-term drinking, and like many new releases in this portfolio, it shows a high level of alcohol at 15.5%. Production totals 490,000 bottles.

De wijn
Castello Banfi’s ‘Brunello di Montalcino’ is gemaakt van 100% sangiovese. Na de zorgvuldige oogst en selectie van de rijpste druiven volgde een vergisting op de schillen gedurende 10 tot 12 dagen bij een gecontroleerde temperatuur in roestvrijstalen en houten kuipen. Daarna rijpte de wijn 24 maanden lang: voor 50% in vaten van Slavonisch eikenhout met een inhoud van 6.000 tot 12.000 liter en voor 50% in vaten van Frans eikenhout met een inhoud van 350 liter.
