Proefnotitie
De 'Rall Red' presenteert zich met een donkerrode kleur met hier en daar zwarte reflecties in het glas. Hij verspreidt intense aroma's van pruimen, donkere bessen, kruiden en specerijen, een vleugje tabak en geroosterde noten. In de mond is hij krachtig en complex, met tonen van rijp donker fruit, specerijen, tabak en kruiden, een vleugje vanille en karamel, soepele tannines, een harmonieus zuurtje, minerale toetsen en een volle, sappige, ronde afdronk.

The Rall 2022 Swartland Red is Syrah (from the same vineyard in the Swartland used in the mono-varietal expression) with Grenache, Carignan and Cinsault. This wine delivers more texture and intensity, and it shows a big-boned personality that wraps thickly over the palate. A silky, elegant red blend that has aromas of chocolate strawberries, wild cherries, light spices and orange leaves. It’s medium-bodied, supple and fine-grained. Cool finish. 78% syrah, 12% grenache, 7% carignan and 3% cinsault, all 100% whole-bunch fermented.

Donovan Rall's la red blend is Syrah based, with a supporting crew of 12% Grenache, 7%
Carignan and 3% Cinsault. Always released a year later than the rest of the portfolio to allow
the tannins to harmonise, it combines components from schist and granite soils, showing
plenty of grip, aromas of Campari spices and garrigue and a core of plum, tobacco leaf and
red cherry.

De wijn
Deze cuvée bestaat uit 78% syrah, 13% grenache noir, 7% carignan en 2% cinsault. De druiven zijn afkomstig van verschillende wijngaarden in de regio Swartland en worden selectief geoogst wanneer ze volledig rijp zijn. Na de maceratie, pulpgisting en zachte persing rijpt de wijn twaalf maanden in oudere houten vaten van 225 en 300 liter, wat zorgt voor een bijzonder fijne kruidigheid, een soepele textuur en extra complexiteit.
