Proefnotitie
De ‘Sanctus Sanctorum’ is een complexe wijn, vol en krachtig, tegelijkertijd sensueel en verleidelijk. Het bouquet van deze ondoorzichtige cuvée doet denken aan een schaal vol rijpe kersen, bramen en pruimen, kersenbrandewijn en bloedsinaasappelsap, wat kruidnagel, drop, munt en Provençaalse kruiden, een vleugje zoethout en chocolade. Het is een onweerstaanbare châteauneuf-du-pape, die in de mond overtuigt met zijn prachtige, rijpe, vlezige fruit en vele nuances van specerijen, zijdezachte tannines en sensuele zuren. Een wijn met een geweldige tanninestructuur en een ongelooflijk lange afdronk. Een feestelijk meesterwerk voor een feestelijke gelegenheid.

All Grenache brought up in new demi-muids, with malolactic fermentation mostly in barrels, the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Sanctus Sanctorum is another ripe, opulent, incredibly sexy 2023. Sporting a translucent medium ruby hue, it has this rare mix of elegance and power that's something to behold. Kirsch, framboise, flower oil, ground pepper, and garrigue notes all shine here, and it's full-bodied, with a powerful, opulent mouthfeel, sweet, polished tannins, and a gorgeous finish.

Ripe raspberry, rose petal, forest strawberry, toast and vanilla introduce the 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Sanctus Sanctorum. Full-bodied, layered and intense, this is a notch classier and more ambitious than the Deus Ex Machina and La Combe des Fous from the same vintage. It dazzles with remarkably smooth tannins and gorgeous intensity. Concluding with endurance on the complex finale, the 2023 is shaping up to be a fabulous Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

De wijn
Deze wijn is het neusje van de zalm uit de beroemde wijngaard Le Crau in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. De grenache-wijnstokken werden in 1904 aangeplant op de zandige bodems. De opbrengsten zijn laag, maar zeer goed. De volledig rijpe druiven werden ontsteeld, vergist en in demi-muids gerijpt. De kleine hoeveelheid werd uitsluitend gebotteld in magnumflessen.
