Proefnotitie
In de neus ontvouwen zich weelderige aroma's van rijpe pruimen, donkere bessen en gekonfijte viooltjes, begeleid door fijne specerijen zoals kaneel, kruidnagel en een vleugje vanille. In de mond is de wijn vol, fluweelzacht en diep, met perfect geïntegreerd hout, een subtiele fruitzoetheid en een elegante frisheid. De lange, kruidige en minerale afdronk verleent hem structuur en harmonie en blijft heerlijk lang nazinderen.

Half Grenache and half Syrah, the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée la Cote Ronde spent 17 months in new oak barrels and was yet to be bottled when I tasted near the end of 2021. Full-bodied, velvety in texture and quite dense on the palate, it delivers notes of plum, spice cake, vanilla and clove.

The same blend as the Juline cuvée (50/50 Grenache and Syrah), the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape La Côte Ronde sports a dense purple color as well as a beautiful bouquet of red and blue fruits intermixed with plenty of violet, chocolate, peppery herbs, and floral nuances. Fresher and more vibrant than usual (this cuvée is usually more black-fruited and chewy), it's medium to full-bodied and has nicely integrated oak as well as beautiful length on the finish. It's young and unevolved, yet just a beautiful vintage for this cuvée.

De wijn
De druiven zijn afkomstig van oude grenache- en syrah-percelen en worden zorgvuldig met de hand geoogst. Na een temperatuurgecontroleerde gisting op de schillen volgt een rijping van ongeveer 17 maanden in nieuwe Franse barriques.
