Proefnotitie
In donker robijnrood is de bolgheri een lust voor het oog met in de neus donkere bessen, fijne houttonen en gedroogde kruiden. Op de tong is hij zijdeachtig, sappig en complex, met zwarte aalbessen en wilde aardbeien, cederhout, hints van rozemarijn en witte peper en goed gestructureerde tannine die leidt naar een langdurige afdronk.

In addition to the 2019 vintage, I previewed the 2020 and the 2021 vintages. I'm giving a temporary review to the 2020 Bolgheri Superiore Grattamacco, but I'm holding back on the 2021 because it is too early. We have two exciting vintages before us. The 2021 (that is still in barrel) shows lots of perfumed intensity and an explosive mouthfeel. The 2020 tastes balanced and long with even more tannic structure to hold it firmly stitched together. The 2021 shows a seamless delivery of soft black fruit, cherry, spice and grilled herb. This is an iconic blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Sangiovese.

Clear, intense ruby purple. Very appealing nose with notes of mint and cedar needles, then beautiful cassis tones, some cold smoke. Full-bodied palate, showing juicy dark berry fruit, opens with plenty of fine-mesh, compact tannin, wide arc of acidity spreads across the mouth.

Rood vlees zoals rund- en lamsvlees of wild, maar ook fantastisch bij een kaasplateau. Onze speciale tip: tajine!
De wijn
De wijnstokken groeien op meer dan 100 meter hoogte en zijn gemiddeld 20 jaar oud. Het zachte Middellandse Zeeklimaat zorgt voor gezonde druiven die met de hand worden geoogst. De vergisting vindt spontaan plaats in open houten vaten met een lange maceratie, de rijping op Frans eiken duurt 18 maanden en wordt gevolgd door 12 maanden rijpen in de fles.
