Proefnotitie
Deze châteauneuf-du-pape heeft een diepe, robijnrode kleur. Het bouquet is intens en Provençaals, gedomineerd door rijpe kersen, viooltjes, drop en garrigue. In de mond is de wijn medium-krachtig tot vol, zijdezacht, met een charmante, pure fruitdichtheid. Rijpe tannines en een solide structuur monden uit in een lange, harmonieuze afdronk. Een complexe wijn met een groot potentieel.

The 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape is another winner from this team, and readers can’t go wrong here. Based on 75% Grenache, 10% each of Syrah and Mourvedre, with the balance Cinsault, it was partially destemmed and brought up all in foudre. This beauty just about jumps out of the glass with its Provençal aromatics of ripe cherries, ground pepper, saddle leather, garrigue, and spice. These carry to a medium to full-bodied wine that has the vintage’s charming, pure character front and center, yet still brings good mid-palate density and ripe tannins. Buy a case, count yourself lucky, and enjoy bottles any time over the coming 10-15 years.

The 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of my all-time favorites from this estate. Crushed violets, licorice, red and black cherry, ripe strawberry and leafy elements are all pushed forward. Full-bodied and savory, the 2020 demands at least four more years in bottle to start showing its full potential.

De grote drie: pizza, hamburger, steak. Doet het ook goed bij streetfoodfavorieten zoals pulled pork.
De wijn
De vinificatie gebeurt op traditionele wijze, waarbij de vier belangrijkste druivensoorten (75% grenache, 10% syrah, 10% mourvèdre en cinsault) gedeeltelijk worden ontsteeld. De wijn rijpt uitsluitend in grote, neutrale foudres (houten vaten). Dit proces in neutraal hout maakt het mogelijk om het pure, kruidige fruit en de karakteristieke expressie van het oogstjaar 2020 te behouden.
